InternationalFAQ is looking for more translators, as well as proof-readers for existing translations! We require fluent English and target language skills for both tasks.
Please note: We will allow a maximum of five translators for one language at any one time. We will accept proofreaders only if there is one translator for a language. If there is more than one translator for a language, the proofreader will be offered the role of translator. You can see an up-to-date list of our translators here.
As a translator, your task would be to translate deviantART FAQs to your target language(s). To become a translator for #InternationalFAQ, your comprehension of English has to be fluent. Remember, we are volunteering to help other users who may not understand English - and thus the FAQs - so our translations need to be as accurate as possible in order for those in need of help to receive the help they need!
As a proof-reader, your task is to go through the existing translations and check for any spelling, grammar or punctuation errors, and then send the translator a Note about them, with possible suggestions for how to correct these errors.
Both of these tasks are separate tasks - if you apply to become a translator, we don't require you to do proof-reading as well, and vice versa: if you apply to become a proof-reader, we don't require you to do translating as well.
If you're interested, please tell us:
Which language(s) would you like to volunteer for, and would you like to volunteer as a translator, proof-reader or both?
How fluent are you in the target language? Are you a native speaker, or are you a student?
If a student of the target language, how long have you been studying it for, and do you frequently read literature or news in that language?
How fluent are you in English? Are you a native speaker, or are you a student?
If a student of English, how long have you been studying it for, and do you frequently read literature or news in English?
How familiar are you with HTML?
What are your other deviantART activities?
We recommend that you read the following before sending your application - and please apply for the language(s) that you know best!
